{"id":22,"date":"2025-06-06T22:14:54","date_gmt":"2025-06-06T22:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/libraryresources.nse.org.ng\/engineeringcapstone\/front-matter\/how-to-use-this-book\/"},"modified":"2025-06-06T22:14:54","modified_gmt":"2025-06-06T22:14:54","slug":"how-to-use-this-book","status":"publish","type":"front-matter","link":"https:\/\/libraryresources.nse.org.ng\/engineeringcapstone\/front-matter\/how-to-use-this-book\/","title":{"raw":"How to Use This Book","rendered":"How to Use This Book"},"content":{"raw":"<h1>How to Use This Book<\/h1>\nThis book is not meant to be progressed through linearly.\u00a0 Rather, each module focuses on a different ABET student outcome, so the information and activities in the book should be used at appropriate times throughout the course sequence.\n<ul>\n \t<li><em>Module 1: Problem Solving<\/em> is mainly review of concepts and practices that students have previously learned, and is a helpful refresher and information reference for things they may have forgotten<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Module 2: Design<\/em> will be the focus of the first part of the course, when students are in the design phase<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Module 3: Communication<\/em> is relevant for presentations, reports, and other documentation<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Module 4: Ethics and Professional Practice<\/em> is a short module that can be used at any time throughout the design and prototyping process<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Module 5: Teamwork<\/em> is applicable at the beginning of the course for project planning, and periodically for project management needs<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Module 6: Experimentation<\/em> is the focus of the latter half of the course, when prototypes need to be tested and evaluated<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Module 7: Lifelong Learning<\/em> is applicable at the start and end of the course for research strategies and final evaluations<\/li>\n \t<li><em>Module 8: Career Readiness<\/em> is not a part of the design cycle and is meant to be used prior to a career fair or in general for supporting students in their job search<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nSome topics may not be applicable to certain majors, and a one-semester capstone course would not have time for as many activities as a two-semester course;
